Campeonato Nacional de Cabo Verde
The Cape Verdean Championships are a football competition that was created in 1976 in Cape Verde. A local championship was founded in 1953 before independence, while the islands were part of the Portuguese Empire.
League format
The championship is played out in a tournament between the champions of the nine islands (the 10th island, Santa Luzia is not inhabited).
